Bigger animals will eat smaller animals

If this isn't Darwin's theory of natural selection at work, then I don't know what is.  Apparently a genius on a surfboard and two in a kayak decided it was a bright idea to paddle out in the middle of a pod of humpback whales that had been leaping out of the water gulping up anchovies.  Imagine their surprise when the whale almost ate them.  Now I'm not sure at what point coming within arms reach of a 35 ton carnivore became the norm but obviously over in California this is all the rage.  And yes I said carnivore, plankton, krill, anchovies and an assortment of other fish means these guys like meat.  And if there is one fundamental in the wild as basic as 1+1 its that the big guy will eat the little guy.
